Mike Kouri - Founder

Mike Kouri is the founder of both MB Kouri Insurance and Kouri's Kopters. Mike's ambition, focus and unshakable determination can only be equaled by his sincerity and love of life. Unfortunately, Mike passed away in November, 2011.

To us, he was more than a father or businessman; he was a man of unquestionable character and we will always hold dear his spirit of life and love for helicopters. Mike is pictured here with his RotorWay Exec162F helicopter that he built himself, testament to his incredible ingenuity and ability.

Mike has left his indelible mark and continues to live on within every one of us here at Kouri's Kopters. Our challenge is to continue his legacy of "Service Above The Rest" - not just as his company motto, but as his way of living.

Dave has been flying for over 12 years and is licensed in Canada and the United States. With over 1500 hours of flight experience in helicopters, Dave is also the company Training Pilot.

When not working 23 hours a day, Dave can be found fishing for large mouth bass on his private family lake with his daughter Charlotte.

Scott Kouri - SMS Officer & Company Guide

Scott's primary responsibility is to drive our Safety Management System (SMS). These systems are becoming standard throughout the aviation industry worldwide as the next step in the evolution of safety in aviation.

His other responsibilities include managing our security and passengers' safety at special events, ground crew supervision and training.

Scott has been a licensed hunting and fishing guide for over 30 years and pulls double duty as our expert for all of our heli-fishing and hunting excursions. There are more than 5000 lakes in the Land O' Lakes tourism region and Scott knows the names of all of them. With his innate knack to find the right spot every time, our clients love him; the fish hate him.

Ken Saumure - Chief Pilot

March 2013 marks the 30th anniversary of Ken's first flying lesson.

After flying airplanes for about 10 years, his curiosity got the best of him and he came over to the "dark side". He has acquired over 1600 hours in airplanes and will cross the 5000 hour mark in helicopters this year. Ken's experience ranges from flying airplanes in the Northwest Territories to flying helicopters in the Grand Canyon.

When not complaining to Dave about having to work 23 hours a day, he is usually behind the lens of his camera or pretending to know how to play his guitar.

Murray McLellan - Maintenance Manager (PRM)

Murray's official title is "Person Responsible for Maintenance".

With Murray's maintenance, technical and aviation experience, his title should be "GWKEAA" (Guy Who Knows Everything About Aviation).

Murray's background is extensive to say the least - he has over 25 years supporting large military transport aircraft, was a flight engineer on the Boeing 747 and currently flies an amphibious float plane (that he built himself) from his personal lakefront home (that he built himself). Talk about an "over-achiever".

Jordan Mol - Pilot

Since the beginning, Jordan has always been there pestering us for a job. Like a dog without a family, we took him in, gave him a bath and fed him.

Nobody has been more dedicated to helping us grow the business during the challenging years and it would be difficult to find someone as likable, flexible and professional as Jordan. While working a full time job in St. Catherines, he drove over 4 hours to Kingston to fly with us during his time off. We will forever be grateful for his commitment and dedication.

We like him so much that we contemplated taking him to a secret laboratory in Russia to get him cloned but we found Natalie instead.

Natalie Strong - Pilot

Natalie is the latest addition to our family and we're glad our paths crossed way.

After graduating from flight school, Natalie took on several jobs flying in northern Ontario. As another consummate professional, Natalie's pleasant and confident personality matches her flying skills perfectly.

She has returned to eastern Ontario to help run the family construction business and flies with us part time.

We were going to write something funny about Natalie but decided not to over fear of retribution.
